First Sleepover: A Lesson in Moxie
Dear friends, today I want to share a story from my past, a tale that taught me the true meaning of moxie. It’s a story about my first sleepover, an event that might seem trivial, but was a turning point in my life.
The Invitation
It was the summer of ’58, and I was a shy, introverted lad of 10. One day, I received an invitation to my first sleepover at my friend Billy’s house. The thought of spending a night away from home was both exciting and terrifying.
The Challenge
As the day approached, my anxiety grew. I was plagued with questions. What if I couldn’t fall asleep? What if I missed my parents? What if I did something embarrassing? I was on the verge of calling it off, but then I remembered something my father once told me: “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone“.
The Sleepover
So, I mustered up all the courage I had and went to the sleepover. It was a night filled with laughter, ghost stories, and too many sweets. Yes, there were moments of discomfort, but they were far outweighed by the joy of the experience.
The Lesson
That night, I learned a valuable lesson about moxie. Moxie isn’t about being fearless; it’s about facing your fears head-on. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing the unknown. It’s about taking risks and growing from the experience.
So, my dear friends, I urge you to embrace your own moxie. Step out of your comfort zone, face your fears, and embrace the unknown. Remember, life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
Until next time,
Kev
