Reverence: A Treasure Hunt of Life
Dear friends, today I want to share a story with you. A story that taught me the value of reverence. It’s a tale from my youth, a tale of adventure, discovery, and the profound lessons we learn when we least expect them. So, gather around, and let’s embark on this journey together.
The Treasure Hunt
It was the summer of ’65. My friends and I, armed with a hand-drawn map and a spirit of adventure, embarked on a treasure hunt. We were young, full of energy, and the world was our oyster. The map led us through fields, across streams, and deep into the heart of the forest. We were explorers, adventurers, pirates in search of our gold.
The Unexpected Discovery
As we ventured deeper into the forest, we stumbled upon an old, abandoned church. It was hidden amongst the trees, a relic of a bygone era. The wooden doors creaked open to reveal a dusty interior, sunlight streaming through the broken stained glass windows, casting a kaleidoscope of colors on the floor.
The Lesson of Reverence
As we stepped inside, the air of adventure was replaced by a sense of reverence. We were in a place of worship, a place of peace, a place that commanded respect. The treasure hunt was forgotten. We spent the afternoon cleaning the church, righting the fallen pews, and dusting off the old bible that lay on the pulpit.
That day, we didn’t find a chest of gold or jewels. Instead, we discovered something far more valuable. We learned the meaning of reverence. We learned to respect the sanctity of places and things that hold deep meaning, even if they don’t hold any significance for us personally.
Carrying Reverence into Our Lives
Reverence is a treasure that enriches our lives. It teaches us to value the world around us, to respect the beliefs and traditions of others, and to find beauty in the most unexpected places. So, my dear friends, I urge you to carry this treasure with you. Seek it out in your daily lives, and you will find that the world is a far richer place.
Remember, the true treasure in life isn’t gold or jewels, but the lessons we learn and the values we hold dear. Until next time, keep exploring, keep learning, and keep growing.
Yours in wisdom,
Kev
