Kindness: An Easter Egg Hunt Story
Dear friends, today I want to share a story from my past that taught me a valuable lesson about kindness. It’s a tale that takes place on a sunny Easter morning, during an annual Easter Egg Hunt. I hope it serves as a reminder that sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can have the biggest impact.
The Easter Egg Hunt
Many moons ago, when I was just a young lad, my neighborhood would host an annual Easter Egg Hunt. It was a grand event, with children of all ages eagerly awaiting the chance to find the most coveted prize – the Golden Egg. This egg was not only filled with the sweetest candy but also held a small cash prize, a fortune for any child.
The Unexpected Turn
One year, a new family moved into our neighborhood. They had a son named Timmy, who was shy and often left out of the neighborhood games. On the day of the Easter Egg Hunt, Timmy was more excited than I’d ever seen him. He had never participated in an Easter Egg Hunt before and was eager to join in the fun.
As the hunt began, all the children scattered, their eyes wide with excitement. After a while, I noticed Timmy sitting alone, his basket empty. He was struggling to find any eggs, let alone the Golden Egg.
The Act of Kindness
Seeing Timmy’s disappointment, I decided to help. I had already found a few eggs and decided to secretly drop one into his basket. When Timmy saw the egg, his face lit up with joy. It was a small act, but it made a big difference to him.
The Lesson Learned
That day, I learned that winning isn’t everything. The joy on Timmy’s face was worth more than any Golden Egg. I realized that kindness is the most valuable prize we can offer to others. It doesn’t cost anything, yet it can make someone’s day, or even change their life.
So, my dear friends, as we go about our lives, let’s remember to be kind. Whether it’s helping a neighbor, a friend, or even a stranger, every act of kindness counts. And who knows, your act of kindness might just be the Golden Egg someone else is searching for.
Until next time,
Kev
