Embracing Stillness: A Lesson from the Northern Lights
Dear friends, today I want to share a story with you, a story that taught me the importance of stillness. It’s a story about a cold, clear night under the Northern Lights.
The Journey Begins
Many years ago, I found myself on a journey to the far reaches of the Arctic Circle. I was young, restless, and eager to see the world. My destination? The elusive, ethereal Northern Lights.
The Arrival
After days of travel, I arrived at a remote outpost. The air was crisp, the snow underfoot squeaked with every step, and the sky was a canvas of stars. But the Northern Lights were nowhere to be seen.
The Wait
For days, I waited. I filled my time with activities, with conversations, with anything to distract me from the cold and the anticipation. But the Northern Lights remained elusive.
The Lesson
One night, in my frustration, I decided to sit outside, alone, in the biting cold. I sat there, still and silent, staring at the sky. And then, it happened. The sky started to dance with colors. Greens, blues, purples, and pinks, swirling and twirling in a celestial ballet. It was breathtaking.
But the real lesson came in the stillness. In the quiet, in the cold, in the waiting, I found a peace I had never known. I realized that in my restlessness, in my constant need for activity and distraction, I was missing the beauty of the moment.
The Takeaway
Friends, life is full of noise, full of distractions. We are constantly on the move, constantly seeking the next big thing. But sometimes, the most beautiful moments come when we are still. When we quiet the noise and simply be.
So, I encourage you, take a moment today to be still. To quiet the noise. To simply be. You never know what beauty you might discover.
Until next time,
Kev
