Persistence: A Lesson from the Fair

The Fair

When I was a young lad, my father took me to the annual county fair. It was a grand spectacle, filled with the sights, sounds, and smells of excitement. There were games, rides, and the tantalizing aroma of cotton candy wafting through the air. But what caught my eye was a small, unassuming booth tucked away in a corner. It was a game of skill, where one had to knock down a pyramid of cans with a baseball. The prize? A giant, plush teddy bear.

The Challenge

I tried my hand at the game, but the cans remained stubbornly upright. I tried again and again, spending all my pocket money, but to no avail. I was disheartened, ready to give up. But my father, seeing my disappointment, knelt down beside me and said, “Son, the game isn’t about knocking down the cans. It’s about persistence.
