Reliability: A Lesson from the Fair
Dear friends, I’m about to share a tale from my youth, a simple story that taught me the importance of reliability. It’s a lesson I learned at a place filled with joy, laughter, and cotton candy – the local fair.
The Promise
One sunny afternoon, my best friend, Jimmy, and I decided to visit the annual county fair. We were excited about the rides, the games, and the promise of a fun-filled day. But before we set off, I made a promise to my mother. I told her I’d be back home by dinner time. She looked at me, her eyes filled with trust, and said, “Be reliable, son. Your word is your bond.”
The Fair
At the fair, we were lost in a world of joy. The Ferris wheel, the roller coaster, the ring toss – everything was a thrill. As the day wore on, we lost track of time. The sun began to set, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. But instead of heading home, we decided to stay for the grand fireworks display.
The Broken Promise
By the time we returned, it was well past dinner. My mother was waiting, worry etched on her face. I had broken my promise. I had failed to be reliable. That night, I learned a valuable lesson about the importance of keeping one’s word.
The Lesson
Reliability, my friends, is more than just being on time. It’s about honoring commitments, about being someone others can depend on. It’s about trust. When we fail to be reliable, we erode that trust. But when we keep our word, we strengthen it.
So, let’s strive to be reliable, in our words and our actions. Let’s be the kind of people others can depend on. Because in the end, our reliability is a reflection of our character.
Remember, my friends, your word is your bond. Make it a reliable one.
Until next time,
Kev
