Peacefulness: A Lesson from the Ocean
Dear friends, today I’d like to share a story from my youth, a tale of my first time surfing. It’s a story that taught me a valuable lesson about peacefulness, a lesson I hope to pass on to you.
The First Wave
It was a bright, sunny day, the kind that makes you feel like anything is possible. I was a young lad, full of energy and excitement, eager to ride my first wave. With my surfboard under my arm, I waded into the cool, blue ocean, my heart pounding with anticipation.
As I paddled out, I felt the power of the ocean beneath me. The waves were larger than they appeared from the shore, their strength and unpredictability a stark contrast to my own inexperience. I felt a twinge of fear, but I pushed it aside. I was ready for this.
The Lesson
But the ocean had other plans. Wave after wave knocked me off my board, tossing me around like a ragdoll. I was frustrated, disheartened. I had come here to surf, not to be battered by the sea. But then, in the midst of my struggle, I had a realization.
I was fighting the ocean, trying to impose my will on it. But the ocean is not something to be conquered. It is something to be respected, to be understood. I needed to find peace with the ocean, to work with it, not against it.
So, I stopped fighting. I let the waves carry me, let them guide me. I found a rhythm, a harmony with the sea. And then, when the time was right, I caught my first wave. It was a moment of pure joy, a moment of peace.
Peacefulness
That day, I learned that peacefulness is not about avoiding conflict or struggle. It’s about finding harmony, even in the midst of chaos. It’s about understanding that sometimes, you need to let go, to let the waves carry you.
So, my friends, I encourage you to find your own peacefulness. Whether it’s in the ocean, in the mountains, or in the quiet of your own home, find that place where you can let go, where you can find harmony. And remember, sometimes, you need to let the waves carry you.
Until next time,
Kev
