Finding Strength: Lessons of Resolution Learned in the Elevator

Resolution: A Lesson from an Unlikely Place

Dear friends, I’m here today to share a tale from my past, a story that taught me a valuable lesson about resolution. It’s a tale that unfolds in an unlikely place – a stuck elevator.

Getting Stuck in an Elevator

It was a day like any other. I was in a bustling city for a business meeting, lodged on the 15th floor of a towering skyscraper. As I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the ground floor, little did I know that I was about to embark on a journey of self-discovery.

The elevator jolted to a stop between the 10th and 11th floors. The lights flickered, then steadied. I was stuck. Alone. In an elevator.

The Rising Panic

As the minutes turned into an hour, panic began to set in. I pressed the emergency button, but all I heard was static. My mobile phone had no signal. The walls seemed to close in, and I felt a wave of claustrophobia.

The Moment of Resolution

But then, something shifted. I realized that panicking wouldn’t help. I needed to stay calm, to resolve to face this situation head-on. I took deep breaths, leaned against the wall, and began to think.

I remembered a piece of advice my father once gave me: “Son, in life, you’ll often find yourself stuck between floors. It’s up to you whether you let the situation define you or you define the situation.”

And so, I chose to define the situation. I resolved to stay calm, to conserve energy, and to keep my mind active. I began to hum a tune, to recall fond memories, to plan future adventures. I resolved to stay positive, to stay hopeful.

The Rescue

After what felt like an eternity, I heard the distant sound of voices. The rescue team had arrived. The elevator doors were pried open, and I stepped out, a little shaken but unharmed.

The Lesson

Looking back, I realize that getting stuck in that elevator was a blessing in disguise. It taught me the power of resolution. It taught me that no matter how dire the situation, we have the power to stay calm, to stay positive, to resolve to face the situation head-on.

So, dear friends, the next time you find yourself ‘stuck between floors’, remember this tale. Remember the power of resolution. Remember that you have the power to define the situation, not the other way around.

Until next time, stay strong, stay resolute.
