Temperance: A Lesson from the Wild
Dear friends, today I wish to share a tale from my younger days, a story of adventure, danger, and most importantly, a lesson in temperance. This story takes us back to the heart of Africa, on a thrilling safari adventure.
The Safari Adventure Begins
It was the summer of ’75, and I found myself in the vast savannahs of Kenya, surrounded by the raw beauty of nature. The air was thick with anticipation, and my heart was pounding with excitement. Little did I know, this journey would teach me a valuable lesson in moderation and self-restraint.
The Encounter with the King
One day, we came across a majestic lion, the undisputed king of the jungle. He was a magnificent creature, radiating power and authority. But there was something else in his eyes – a sense of balance and control. He was a creature of immense power, yet he wielded it with grace and restraint.
The Lesson in Temperance
That’s when it hit me. The lion, despite his strength, knew the importance of temperance. He understood that power without control is meaningless. This was a lesson I took to heart. In life, we often find ourselves in positions of power, be it physical, emotional, or financial. But without temperance, without the ability to control and moderate our actions, we risk causing harm to ourselves and others.
Temperance in Our Lives
Temperance is not just about abstaining; it’s about balance. It’s about understanding our limits and knowing when to pull back. It’s about making responsible choices and considering the consequences of our actions. Just like the lion, we too can learn to wield our power with grace and restraint.
So, my dear friends, let’s strive to incorporate temperance into our lives. Let’s learn to balance our desires with our responsibilities, our actions with our consequences. And remember, just like the lion, we too can be kings and queens of our own lives, if only we learn to rule with temperance.
Until next time, remember to live with balance and grace.
