Flexibility: A Lesson from a Funeral
Dear friends, today I want to share a story with you. A story that taught me the importance of flexibility in life. It’s a tale from my past, centered around an event that we all have to face at some point – a funeral.
The Unexpected Turn of Events
Many years ago, I was tasked with organizing the funeral of a dear friend. I had everything planned down to the last detail – the service, the eulogy, the flowers. But as we all know, life has a way of throwing curveballs at us when we least expect it.
On the day of the funeral, a massive storm hit our town. Roads were blocked, power lines were down, and the church where we were supposed to hold the service was inaccessible. It was a situation that none of us had anticipated.
The Lesson in Flexibility
Now, I could have let this unexpected turn of events ruin the day. I could have given in to the frustration and the disappointment. But instead, I chose to be flexible.
We quickly found a new location for the service – a kind neighbor’s barn. We gathered candles to combat the power outage. We rearranged the service to accommodate the change in venue. And in the end, the funeral was a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to our departed friend.
It wasn’t the funeral that we had planned, but it was a funeral that taught me a valuable lesson. Life is unpredictable. Things don’t always go according to plan. But if we remain flexible, if we adapt to the changes instead of resisting them, we can still find beauty and meaning in the most unexpected of circumstances.
Embrace Flexibility
So, my friends, I urge you to embrace flexibility in your own lives. Whether you’re facing a minor inconvenience or a major upheaval, remember that it’s not the situation itself that determines the outcome, but how you respond to it.
Be like the willow tree that bends with the wind, rather than the oak that breaks in the storm. Be flexible, and you’ll be able to weather any storm that life throws your way.
Until next time, remember to stay flexible and keep learning from life’s unexpected turns.
Yours in wisdom,
Kev
