The Gift of Talent: A Lesson from the Past
Dear friends, today I want to share a story from my youth, a tale that taught me the true value of talent and the importance of living in the present. It’s a lesson I’ve carried with me throughout my life, and I hope it will inspire you as it has inspired me.
The Unseen Talent
When I was a young lad, I had a friend named Tommy. Tommy was a quiet boy, often overlooked by others. He wasn’t the strongest, nor the fastest, but he had a talent that was unique and beautiful – he could draw. With just a pencil and a piece of paper, Tommy could create worlds that were breathtakingly beautiful and filled with life.
But Tommy was shy about his talent. He would hide his drawings, afraid of what others might say. He lived in fear of the future, worried about the judgement that might come.
The Lesson Learned
One day, I stumbled upon one of Tommy’s hidden drawings. It was a scene of our little town, so detailed and vibrant that it took my breath away. I showed it to our friends, our teachers, our families. The praise for Tommy’s talent was unanimous.
Seeing the joy his talent brought to others, Tommy finally understood. He had been so focused on the future, on the potential for criticism, that he had overlooked the joy his talent could bring in the present.
Living in the Present
From that day forward, Tommy shared his talent freely. He lived in the present, no longer held back by fear of the future. His drawings brought joy to our town, and to him as well.
And so, my friends, the lesson here is clear. We all have talents, unique gifts that we can share with the world. Don’t hide them away for fear of the future. Use them, share them, and live in the joy of the present.
Remember, the present is a gift, and it’s the only moment we truly have. Don’t let fear of the future rob you of the joy you can experience and share right now.
Until next time, my friends, live in the present and share your gifts with the world.
Yours truly,
Kev
