Hopefulness: A Lesson from My First Kiss
Dear friends, today I’d like to share a story from my youth, a tale of anticipation, nerves, and the sweet taste of hopefulness. It’s a story about my first kiss.
The Anticipation
It was the summer of ’58, and I was a sprightly lad of 15. I had my eye on a girl named Mary. She had the most enchanting smile and a laugh that could light up the darkest room. I was smitten, and I knew I wanted to kiss her. But, oh, the anticipation! The waiting, the wondering, the endless scenarios playing out in my head.
The Nerves
One sunny afternoon, we found ourselves alone by the old oak tree near the schoolyard. My heart pounded like a drum in my chest. I could feel the sweat trickling down my back. I was nervous, yes, but I was also excited. The possibility of that kiss, the thrill of the unknown, it was all-consuming.
The Hopefulness
And then, it happened. Our lips met in a soft, awkward, wonderful kiss. It was nothing like I had imagined, and yet, it was everything I had hoped for. In that moment, I learned a valuable lesson about hopefulness.
Hopefulness is not just about expecting the best. It’s about embracing the journey, the anticipation, the nerves, and the joy of the experience. It’s about understanding that even if things don’t go exactly as planned, they can still be beautiful and meaningful.
Life’s First Kisses
Life is full of ‘first kisses’. They may not all be romantic, but they are all significant. The first time you try something new, the first time you take a risk, the first time you step out of your comfort zone. These are the moments that define us, that shape our lives.
So, my dear friends, I encourage you to embrace hopefulness. Embrace the anticipation, the nerves, and the joy of the journey. Because in the end, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. And the journey is always worth it.
Until next time,
Kev
